Roger Corman and the Los Angeles Film School Partner to Produce Feature Films.

LOS ANGELES--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Dec. 4, 2001

In a unique partnership, filmmaking legend Roger Corman and the owners of The Los Angeles Film School (LAFS) have teamed for a multi-project output agreement. This unique co-production will leverage both Corman's genius for introducing new filmmakers into the Hollywood system, and the school's vast array of promising alumni talent. The agreement calls for Corman to produce one to two projects annually in association with the school. Corman will provide production financing and will distribute the pictures internationally while brokering domestic distribution deals on a film-by-film basis. LAFS graduates will act as directors, cinematographers and other department heads on the projects produced through this agreement. Scripts will come from both student projects developed at LAFS as well as from Roger Corman's company Concorde-New Horizons. LAFS facilities will act as the production and post-production ground, allowing filmmakers to work in the school's state-of-the-art facilities. Movies will be made using Corman's successful formulas for commercial success.

Often referred to as "The King of the Indie," Roger Corman ranks as one of the most amazing motion picture success stories in Hollywood history. Corman has directed, produced and distributed hundreds of movies, all of which have been profitable due to his low budget production philosophy and his keen understanding of "B-movie" distribution. However, even with all of his financial success, one of Corman's most lasting legacies will undoubtedly be the legion of producers, directors, writers, and actors he has fostered. Some of Corman's former proteges include: Jack Nicholson, Francis Ford Coppola, Peter Fonda, Bruce Dern, Diane Ladd, Talia Shire, Peter Bogdanovich, Robert DeNiro, Martin Scorsese, Sally Kirkland, Ron Howard, Charles Bronson, Joe Dante, Jonathan Demme, Gale Ann Hurd, and James Cameron. His influence on modern American cinema is almost incalculable.

The Los Angeles Film School has been heralded by The Hollywood Reporter as "one of the best equipped private learning centers in the country." With some of Hollywood's top "working" filmmakers acting as faculty, the school now teaches more than 230 students in its full and part-time programs. LAFS owners, Diana Derycz-Kessler and Paul Kessler, are a husband and wife business team that also own 1st Chance Films, which will enter into co-productions with Concord-New Horizons.
