VENICE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 30, 2004

Rod Hershberger, executive vice president and chief operating officer (COO) of PGT Industries, has been named president and COO of the manufacturer of custom windows, doors and patio rooms.

Hershberger takes over the presidency from Randy White, who remains the company's chief executive officer.

Hershberger attributes PGT's growth and expansion -- over 20% per year in the last five years - to the hard work of the company's more than 1,800 employees. Hershberger has been with the company for 23 years and has designed a number of the company's major products. He was named executive vice president and COO in September, 2003, and oversaw the company's Florida and North Carolina operations, sales, marketing and engineering groups.

Before that, he headed up the manufacturing, transportation and logistics operations in Florida and, prior to that, served as vice president of customer service. Hershberger is a founder and former officer of AMAF (Architectural Manufacturers Association of Florida) and is currently second vice president - Residential Products Group, for the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA).

PGT is Florida's leading manufacturer of custom windows, doors and patio rooms. The company, now in its 24th year, is privately held and employs over 1,800 at its manufacturing, glass plant and delivery fleet facilities in Venice, Florida, and Lexington, North Carolina.
