The Rockwell Collins digital flight control system also features an integrated autothrottle function and new mode control panel that provide growth for new features and increase the overall system reliability.

Rockwell Collins provided the first digital flight control system for Boeing onboard Refers to a chip or other hardware component that is directly attached to the printed circuit board (motherboard). Using the digital flight control systems on Boeing airplanes, pilots can engage the system shortly after takeoff and automatically fly the airplanes on pre-selected routes, headings, speed or altitude maneuvers. At airports equipped for Category IIIb landings, the system can safely fly the airplane through the landing approach to touchdown and rollout during very poor visibility conditions.

Deliveries of the digital flight control system to Boeing for the Next-Generation 737 airplane will begin in mid-year 2002. The system will be certified with Category IIIb capability in October 2002, with introduction on Boeing Next-Generation 737 airplanes beginning in January 2003.
