Rocker Rob dies in car smash.

Rock group The Charlatans were left reeling yesterday after their keyboard player died in a car accident.

Rob Collins's death comes just days before the band are due to play two big gigs with Oasis at Loch Lomond.

The accident happened while Collins was driving in Monmouth, Gwent. He was thrown out of his car after it swerved off the road and flew 50 feet into the air.

Paramedics battled to revive the 32-year-old star but he was dead by the time they got him to hospital early yesterday.

The band are now considering their future, including whether to go ahead with the Oasis concerts.

A spokesperson said: "We're all pretty upset because we only just heard."

Collins was jailed for eight months three years ago for driving a getaway car in a bungled armed robbery.
