Robust New MagnaMouse Construction to be Revealed at electronica Trade Show.

Business Editors & High-Tech Writers

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 31, 2002

Duraswitch's (Nasdaq:DSWT DSWT David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (Nairobi, Kenya) ) MagnaMouse(TM) multi-directional switch technology is getting a new look. For the first time, it will be on display under a metal overlay (1) A preprinted, precut form placed over a screen, key or tablet for identification purposes. See keyboard template.

(2) A program segment called into memory when required.

2002," in Munich, Germany, Nov. 12-14. Germany-based Demmel AG (Hall C1 -- Stand C1.368), a Duraswitch licensee that manufactures this enhanced construction, will be promoting this construction during the four-day event.

of metal keypads, has adapted the MagnaMouse under a metal overlay in a full keyboard construction to demonstrate the advantages the product offers in kiosk applications. The metal overlay adds an additional layer of protection to an already robust product and provides it at a lower cost than other technologies.

This adaptation of the MagnaMouse technology adds enhanced features without eliminating any of the benefits. MagnaMouse offers OEMs a multi-directional cursor (1) The symbol used to point to some element on screen. On Windows, Mac and other graphics-based screens, it is also called a "pointer," and it changes shape as it is moved with the mouse into different areas of the application.  control that couples high reliability, and extreme durability with environmental sealability. Where trackballs require maintenance and touch pads frequently fail, Duraswitch's magnetically coupled, multi-directional actuator A mechanism that causes a device to be turned on or off, adjusted or moved. The motor and mechanism that moves the head assembly on a disk drive or an arm of a robot is called an actuator. See access arm.  is a viable solution. MagnaMouse technology employs fewer parts than other controls and can easily be integrated into a panel, reducing manufacturing and assembly costs. Adding this innovative technology also gives OEMs a feature that will differentiate their products.

"We see an opportunity to first introduce this MagnaMouse construction to the kiosk industry -- and electronica will provide an ideal forum," said Thomas Holderried, Demmel president. "The ease of designing and manufacturing MagnaMouse and Duraswitch's PushGate(R) pushbutton push·but·ton

is incredibly beneficial to this industry. Incorporating the MagnaMouse into a single, durable panel saves costs in both piece parts and maintenance expenditures."
