Robex Resources Inc.: Baryte Production Studies Positive.

SAINTE-FOY, Quebec--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 18, 1998-- Robex Resources Inc. is pleased to announce that some studies related to the eventual putting into production of its baryte orebody located at Upton, Quebec about 30 km east of Montreal, are completely positive. The report on the economic results and on marketing just completed indicates that the projected production of barium sulphate concentrates at a rate of 26,500 tons per year would generate a monetary flow before taxes and expenses of $4.0 millions per year for an additional investment of about $8.0 millions (which would include all necessary land purchases). The proven reserves of 950,000 tons showing 46.5 percent BaSO4 and 1.9 percent zinc assure an ongoing production for 13.5 years with some additional years of underground reserves below the open-pit depth of 250' (80 meters). The report constitute an indepth analysis of the findings disclosed in the previous press release dated November 18, 1997.

The Upton orebody constitutes a unique important baryte reserve ready to be exploited in eastern north America. The market is aimed at petroleum drilling muds to complete the required supply for the next 10 years of development from the wells of the Hibernia field, for the complete exploitation of the gas projects at Sable Island east of Nova Scotia, the petroleum fields of Terra Nova, of White Rose and of Hebron, within a radius of 50 km from the Hibernia field, which is situated some 350 km east of Nova Scotia. The Canada-Nova Scotia Commission on petroleum from the sea "estimates 4.7 billion barrels of petroleum recoverable in this part of the country, and 233 billion cubic meters of natural gas already discovered, excluding the 85 billion cubic meters of gas from the gas fields of the Sable Island project" (Mr. Fitzgerald, The Canadian Press, The Sun, January 5, 1998). These gigantic resources could support, according to the same author, the development of 2 new energy projects a year for the next 10 years.

The studies obtained by Robex reveal the shortage in supply of baryte for the projected projects, which, according to our president, has aroused interest in our strategically located orebody.
