Robertson redux: Pat's provocative patter.

Television preacher Pat Robertson Marion Gordon "Pat" Robertson (born March 22 1930)[1] is a televangelist from the United States.[2] He is the founder of numerous organizations and corporations, including the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN),  holds unique views on many issues. Over the years, he has shared these opinions through his "700 Club" program, in letters to supporters and in his books. Here is a sampling of some of his more provocative opinions:

No Such Thing As Church-State Separation

"I want to say very clearly, ladies and gentlemen, there's no such thing in the Constitution as, quote, separation of church and state
See also: .
Separation of church and state is a political and legal doctrine which states that government and religious institutions are to be kept separate and independent of one another.
. That term does not exist in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  Constitution. It existed in the former Soviet Union's constitution, but not America."

The Fruits Of Feminism

"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians."

--anti-Equal Rights Amendment fund-raising letter, summer 1992

Gays Are Often Nazis

"[Homosexuality] is a pathology.

It is a sickness, and it needs to be treated.... Many of those people involved with Adolf Hitler were Satanists, many of them were homosexuals. The two things seem to go together."

--"700 Club," March 7, 1990

Religious Tolerance

"You say you're supposed to be nice to the Episcopalians and the Presbyterians and the Methodists and this, that and the other thing. Nonsense! I don't have to be nice to the spirit of the Antichrist Antichrist (ăn`tĭkrīst), in Christian belief, a person who will represent on earth the powers of evil by opposing the Christ, glorifying himself, and causing many to leave the faith. . I can love the people who hold false opinions, but I don't have to be nice to them."

--"700 Club," Jan. 14, 1991

Conspiracy Theories ''This is a list of conspiracy theories; it contains alleged conspiracies that are not accepted by mainstream academics. For a discussion of conspiracy theories in general, see conspiracy theory.

"Indeed, it may well be that men of goodwill like Woodrow Wilson, Jimmy Carter, and George Bush, who sincerely want a larger community of nations living at peace in our world, are in reality unknowingly and unwittingly carrying out the mission and mouthing the phrases of a tightly knit Adj. 1. tightly knit - closely and firmly integrated; "a tight-knit organization"
tight-knit

integrated - formed into a whole or introduced into another entity; "a more closely integrated economic and political system"- Dwight D.
cabal whose goal is nothing less than a new order for the human race under the domination of Lucifer and his followers."

--The New World Order, p. 37, 1991

Rainbow Flags Will Spark Hurricanes

"This is not a message of hate; this is a message of redemption. But if a condition like this will bring about the destruction of your nation, if it'll bring about terrorist bombs; [if] it'll bring earthquakes, tornadoes and possibly a meteor, it isn't necessarily something we ought to open our arms to. And I would warn Orlando that you're right in the way of some serious hurricanes, and I don't think I'd be waving those flags in God's face if I were you."

--"700 Club," June 8, 1998, reacting to news that the city of Orlando would fly gay-themed flags from city light poles

Reaction To Sept. 11, 2001

"We have a court that has essentially stuck its finger in God's eye A God's eye is a yarn weaving and spiritual magic: see also Namkha, Ojo de Dios and yarn cross. Introduction
The Ojo de Dios or Eye of God is a ritual tool, magical object and cultural symbol evoking the weaving motif and its spiritual associations.
and said we're going to legislate you out of the schools.... We have insulted God at the highest levels of our government. And, then we say, 'Why does this happen?' Well, why it's happening is that God Almighty is lifting his protection from us."

--"700 Club," Sept. 13, 2001

'Heathen' Harry Potter Books

"Now we're welcoming this and teaching our children. And what we're doing is asking for the wrath of God to come on this country.... And if there's ever a time we need God's blessing, it's now. We don't need to be bringing in heathen, pagan practices to the United States of America UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The name of this country. The United States, now thirty-one in number, are Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, ."

President Bush Led By God

"The Lord told me he's going to put his mantle over George Bush to protect him. He said, 'He talks to me, and I will lead him.' This is a man who prays, and God's going to put his mantle on him. We're going to see--we thank God for a good leader in this nation, and God's going to bless him."

Judges Worse Than Terrorists

"[I]t is my feeling that no crazed terrorists hiding out in mountain caves on the border of Afghanistan can threaten America. It is my firm conviction that Supreme Court decisions which have led to the wanton Grossly careless or negligent; reckless; malicious.
