Law An improvement beyond normal upkeep and repair that adds to the value of real property. of his community, Robert "Bob" Kevane, CPA (Computer Press Association, Landing, NJ) An earlier membership organization founded in 1983 that promoted excellence in computer journalism. Its annual awards honored outstanding examples in print, broadcast and electronic media. The CPA disbanded in 2000. , is CalCPA's 2006 Public Service Award winner. La Mesa-based Kevane has divided his professional time between a sole practitioner accounting firm and The Kevane Company, Inc., where he has been a Realtor and licensed real estate broker, since 1975. In addition, Kevane has worked in real estate development since 1966 and also owns and manages a number of apartment complexes in San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay. County. Since 1992, Kevane has participated in CalCPA Government Relations Committee's Action Network, and has given several presentations at area high schools as part of CalCPA's student outreach program. "Over the past 12 years, Bob has spent more than 50 percent of his time serving others through civic, church and nonprofit activities." Kevane also is active with the San Diego Blood Bank, serving as president (2003-04), treasurer (2002) and as a member of the board of directors since 1998. He has also served on the organization's Finance, Executive Personnel, Legislative, Planning and Nominating committees. Through his real estate career, Kevane has served on the Inclusionary Housing Working Group as a member of the City of San Diego & San Diego Housing Commission (2001-02); was on the City of San Diego's Affordable Housing Task Force, including four subcommittees (2002-03); and served as legislative chair of the San Diego County Apartment Association (2004), as well as volunteering on the association's Legislative Steering Committee steer·ing committee n.
