Robert Jenkins succeeds James Flanagan as NEPA president, group has $1 million in bank.


NEPA's annual June conference in Washington is also the occasion of a board of directors meeting and the annual report to the membership.

At the board meeting, Robert Jenkins Robert Jenkins may refer to one of the following people:
  • Robert Jenkins (master mariner) (fl. 1731–1745), an English master mariner
  • Robert Jenkins (UK politician) (1900–1978), British Conservative Member of Parliament for Dulwich 1951–1964
, head of Health Resources Publishing, Manasquan, N.J., was elected president. In his acceptance speech, Jenkins stressed the importance of members getting involved actively in NEPA's numerous programs--including Special Working Groups, listservs, chapters, and conferences.

An active volunteer himself, including elected office, Jenkins emphasized how rewarding it is both personally and professionally to become involved in community and trade organizations.

Outgoing president An outgoing president is a president or, generally, other head of state or government when he holds office between the election of his successor and the inauguration by which that successor assumes power.  James Flanagan James Flanagan may refer to:

, of HCPro, Marblehead, Mass., reported in his concluding speech that NEPA "membership is down but our finances are solid." From his travels to chapter meetings around the country this past year, he said he saw two trends:

* The financial health of members has improved.

* The evolution of business practices has put newsletter publishers ahead, using the technology to pass valuable information along to their customers.

"Our association has done the same--evolved its services and the ways of delivering those services," he said.

, reported that "the association faced a tough climate, but has weathered all that." NEPA has maintained $1 million in the bank, but Mayer said they project a modest loss in the coming year.

Dan Oswald, president of Lawrence Ragan Communications Inc., Chicago, moved up from secretary to vice president. Ira Mayer became secretary, and Tom Hagy of Mealey's in Pennsylvania is now treasurer.

New board members are: Doreen Bieryla, senior vice president at Element K Journals, Rochester, N.Y.; Robert L. Brady, president of Business & Legal Reports Inc.; and David Schwartz David Schwartz is a composer, noted for his scoring the music for the multiple Emmy Award-winning television series, Arrested Development, Deadwood, and numerous others.
