Robert Amler.


Robert Amler MD, MS, is dean of the School of Public Health at New York Medical College New York Medical College is a center for graduate medical education located in Westchester County, a suburb half an hour north of New York City. This private university comprises the School of Medicine, which grants the M.D. , serving as chief academic and administrative officer. Amler, a 25-year veteran of the U.S. Public Health Service, served as advisor to the U.S. Surgeon General and other national leaders. Amler has held federal posts at the office of the Secretary of Health and Human Services Noun 1. Secretary of Health and Human Services - the person who holds the secretaryship of the Department of Health and Human Services; "the first Secretary of Health and Human Services was Patricia Roberts Harris who was appointed by Carter" , the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), agency of the U.S. Public Health Service since 1973, with headquarters in Atlanta; it was established in 1946 as the Communicable Disease Center.  and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry The United States Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, (ATSDR) is an agency for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that is directed by a congressional mandate to perform specific functions concerning the effect on public health of hazardous . Most recently as a regional health administrator, he led a response task force that integrated public health departments with hospital systems. He also commanded health and medical emergency forces during heightened terror alerts and established a regional network of volunteer Medical Reserve Corps units. Amler is a graduate of Dartmouth College, Rutgers Medical School and the CDCs Epidemic Intelligence Service.
