Roaming Messenger(TM) (OTCBB:RMSG) today provided insight into the results of several recent studies that document the ever increasing amount of SPAM that is appearing on mobile devices, and how its breakthrough technology provides capabilities that allow mission critical messages to stand apart from the clutter of spam and unsolicited messages.

A worldwide survey of mobile phone users and mobile services professionals, released last month at the international 3GSM conference in Cannes, was conducted by the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland and Bmd Wireless, with collaboration from the International Telecommunication Union. It found that eight out of 10 mobile users surveyed have received unsolicited messages on their mobile devices.

The instances of SPAM delivered to mobile devices have grown from 18% of all SMS messages to nearly 49% of all text messages sent, just in the past year alone, according to another study released last month by Wireless Services Corporation, a provider of SMS infrastructure services to the major international wireless carriers.

Mobile phone SPAM is considered more intrusive than Internet SPAM, because the users of the devices have to view the message every single time to determine whether it is SPAM or not.

This trend is especially troublesome for government agencies using mobile devices in their emergency response efforts as well as corporations depending on wireless devices for mission critical enterprise communication. This amount of mobile spam can overload devices and render them unsuitable for instantaneous, real-time communication.
