Riverstone Networks Showcases Convergence at the Network Edge at Supercomm 2005.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- MEF Interoperability Event, Cooperative Triple Play and IPTV Demos Underscore MPLS-Based Ethernet as Infrastructure for Converged Residential and Business Services

Riverstone Networks (Pink Sheets:RSTN), a pioneer in carrier Ethernet solutions, will be showcasing multi-vendor interoperability, reliability, scalability and quality of service (QoS) attributes of its MPLS-based Ethernet Edge Routers at Supercomm 2005; attributes that are driving the acceptance of carrier Ethernet as the edge infrastructure for converged business and residential services.

A founding member of the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), Riverstone will be participating in MEF's first live demonstration of carrier Ethernet services. The event, involving 30 companies, will be the largest multi-vendor interoperability demo ever conducted by the MEF or at Supercomm. Riverstone will take part in the event's Service Aware Infrastructure demonstration, creating a QoS-enabled VPLS network consisting of the Riverstone 15008 Ethernet Edge router, the RS 3100 Ethernet access router, and equipment from Cisco, Tellabs and Ixia. The RS 3100 will be configured as an HVPLS spoke off of the Riverstone 15008 and will demonstrate the multicasting efficiency of HVPLS in distributing video services. Visitors to the booth will be able to watch streaming video and place IP video phone calls across the VPLS network using a PC client and IP video phone.

Riverstone will also be demonstrating live business and triple play services at its own booth, #73061, using a single HVPLS-based Ethernet infrastructure. The on-booth network will support features such as IGMP snooping, IGMP proxy and PIM-SM for efficient video delivery, as well as advanced QoS capabilities, for ensuring that service quality exceeds existing service delivery methods. The demonstration will also utilize many of the resiliency capabilities required in a converged, multi-service network including Riverstone's modular operating system, MPLS fast-reroute and a dual-homed MTUs.

Lucent Technologies (NYSE:LU), for example, will be demonstrating IP Video services in booth #64056 using a combination of its Stinger(R) DSL Access Concentrators, the Metropolis(R) DMX Access Multiplexer, and the Riverstone 15008 Ethernet Edge Router. Lucent will also be demonstrating standards-based Ethernet interworking with its CBX 3500(TM) Multiservice Edge Switch, the PacketStar(TM) PSAX Multiservice Media Gateway, the Stinger(R) DSL Access Concentrator, and Riverstone's RS 8000 Aggregation Router and 15008 Ethernet Edge Router.

At booth #71049, Amedia Networks will combine its AS5000 Aggregation Switch and PG1000 Premises Gateway with the Riverstone 15008 Ethernet Edge Router to demonstrate converged business and triple play services including VPN services for SMB and multi-channel HDTV applications. Amedia's products will also be on display on the Riverstone booth.

ADVA Optical Networking (FSE:ADV), whose products will be shown on the Riverstone booth as well, will have a live demonstration of video distribution on booth #39025 using the FSP 150 portfolio along with the Riverstone RS 3100 access router.

PacketFront, a provider of FTTH technology, booth #69066, will demonstrate end-user self provisioning of Internet and Video (IPTV) services running over an integrated network of PacketFront's Customer Premise Switches and the Riverstone 15008 Ethernet Edge Router. PacketFront's equipment will also be showcased in Riverstone's booth.

In addition, network management partner Dorado Software, booth #43082, will demonstrate how its Redcell infrastructure management software is used to configure Riverstone's carrier Ethernet routers for business and residential triple play applications at the Carrier network edge. Dorado will exhibit real-time VLAN and MPLS/VPLS configuration; backup and comparison of configuration files; and event monitoring.
