Rite Aid Relief Efforts Continue in Gulf Coast Region; Three Rite Aid Mobile Pharmacy Units Dispatched to Affected Areas.

Rite Aid customers can continue to donate funds to Hurricane Katrina relief by purchasing $1 dollar relief certificates at any Rite Aid store across the country. All funds raised will be donated to the American Red Cross American Red Cross: see Red Cross.  and designated to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The Rite Aid Foundation donated $250,000 to the American Red Cross and in the first few days of collections at Rite Aid stores, approximately $500,000 additional donations have been made. Rite Aid is continuing to work with the American Red Cross and also with the State Department of Health in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi to transport in-kind donations such as food, water and supplies to victims, communities and shelters as needed, as well as provide needed prescriptions to hurricane evacuees Resident or transient persons who have been ordered or authorized to move by competent authorities, and whose movement and accommodation are planned, organized and controlled by such authorities.  in shelters across the region.

Rite Aid customers will continue to be able to get prescriptions filled at any Rite Aid across the country because of the company's satellite-linked computer system. Rite Aid is setting up shelters for its associates in the affected areas complete with running water, cots for sleeping, cooking areas, portable showers and toilets and Rite Aid will offer transportation to and from the shelters as needed. Rite Aid associates at the corporate offices and at each of its nine distribution centers are holding a clothing drive and items donated will be shipped to the shelters.

The Rite Aid Foundation donated an additional $250,000 to a newly created Associate Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund to help Rite Aid associates affected by the hurricane devastation with short and long-term needs. Rite Aid set up a collection address for any Rite Aid associate across the nation who would like to donate to the associate relief fund.

All Rite Aid associates who have been affected by Hurricane Katrina are encouraged to call toll-free, 888/968-7179 for information and assistance available.
