Founded in 1964 by University of Utah dance instructors Joan Woodbury and Shirley Ririe the company is dedicated to furthering contemporary dance by creating and performing and Nikolais/Louis Foundation for Dance have teamed up to present a summer workshop in Salt Lake City, July 24-Aug. 11. One-week workshops are also scheduled for Nikolais alumni and for university and high school instructors. An added treat is that workshop participants will observe the reconstruction of Nikolais' Tent tent, portable shelter of canvas, skins, felt, matting, or other material usually supported by poles and used chiefly by nomads, hunters, and campers.
