Ricoh Named to Business Week's Information Technology Top 100 List; Ricoh Company Limited Only Office Automation Equipment Provider Recognized.

Business Editors

WEST CALDWELL, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 26, 2001

Ricoh Company Limited has been recognized by Business Week magazine as one of the World's Best Performers in information technology for 2001. Ricoh was the only office automation equipment provider to receive this distinction.

"It has been an exciting year for us and we are very honored to be listed in such great company," said Katsumi "Kirk" Yoshida, President and CEO of Ricoh Corporation. "In every market we serve, we strive to provide the most outstanding products, services, and overall customer satisfaction."

The selection process by Business Week included financial data from Standard & Poor's Compustat, a division of the McGraw-Hill Companies that compiled computerized information on 10,000 publicly traded corporations. The list was then narrowed to 550 information technology companies who produced revenues of at least $400 million. Those firms were divided into eight industry categories and eliminated if their revenues fell or stock price dropped more than 75 percent. The remaining group of companies was ranked on four equally weighted criteria: shareholder return, return on equity, revenue growth and total revenues. Corporations with sharp declines in current financial results or other developments that raised questions about future performance were also eliminated. Finally, the top 200 companies were re-ranked as a group and Ricoh finished at 95.

According to Business Week, Ricoh, "The maker of printers and copiers saw the 'digital' light years ago. It's now a world leader in networked office equipment."

"Ricoh is leading the digital revolution by offering comprehensive digital imaging products and support to meet the increasing demand for multifunctionality and seamless connectivity in the business environment," said Jim Ivy, President, Office Products Group, Ricoh Corporation. "This incredible growth rate for Ricoh can be attributed to cutting edge technology developments and our ongoing commitment to customer satisfaction," Ivy added.

In the past year Ricoh acquired Lanier Worldwide Inc., one of the world's largest global providers of document management solutions, contracted a $200 million agreement with the United States Postal Service to be the "Official Provider of Digital Copiers for the USPS" and introduced a $32 million "Dependable Digital" corporate radio advertising campaign featuring ABC Monday Night Football co-host and comedian Dennis Miller.
