Aggressive melody, fanatical leads, rhythms, heavy bass lines and conspiracy theories dominate this release. Must see live! CULT OF LUNA Cult of Luna is a Swedish doom/post-metal band. Hailing from Umeå in Sweden. They formed from the remnants of a Umeå hardcore band called Eclipse in 1999. They slowly garnered critical appreciation and underground popularity with early releases Cult of Luna (2001) and Salvation (Earache ear·ache n. Pain in the ear; otalgia. )--Cult of Luna Luna Any of a series of unmanned Soviet lunar probes, launched between 1959 and 1976, responsible for various lunar “firsts.” Luna 2 (1959) was the first spacecraft to strike the Moon; Luna 3 (1959) was the first to circle the Moon and took the first has morphed into the doom/death realm, and it's freshly evident from their trademark Neurosis-worshipping noise-ridden chaos. Upon first listen of Salvation I was hooked. This release is conceptual, epically crafty and seething seethe intr.v. seethed, seeth·ing, seethes 1. To churn and foam as if boiling. 2. a. BEATEN BACK TO PURE The Burning South (This Dark Reign)--A doomier version of ATP ATP: see adenosine triphosphate. Not as EyeHateGod driven as their Southern Apocalypse release, but maintains hostility and the merciless deliverance of Southern swamp metal. LEVIATHAN (Relapse)--Their sophomore album Remission offered blasts of quantum math-metal exploration not quite conceived (or "delivered") before. Leviathan impales the listener and evolves the frenzy only they can calculate, compose and crush. FISTULA/BURMESE split (Crucial Blast)--Burmese gives you their legendary maximum grind Whitehouse noise-fluence that'll fuck your shit up. Fistula bends sludge and crusty darkened thrash with infectious blasting riffs. Worthy introduction to both bands. YOB The Illusion of Motion (Metal Blade)---Sleep and Sabbath followers of the faith will not be denied the dooming catastrophe of an even slower, menacing and maniacal wall of rift.
