Gottbreht, 51, has more than 25 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, most recently serving as a vice president in MediaOne Group. He has experience as chief operations officer for PT.ARIA WEST (MediaOne Group's international telecommunications subsidiary) and was a general manager for U S WEST. Throughout his career he is credited with the development and delivery of technology and systems used for telecommunications products and customer service.

Gottbreht began his career in 1968 with the United States Air Force United States Air Force (USAF)
Major component of the U.S. military organization, with primary responsibility for air warfare, air defense, and military space research. It also provides air services in coordination with the other military branches. U.S. , where he worked on automated satellite tracking and data retrieval systems. Following his duty of service in 1972, he held various management positions with U S WEST (Mountain Bell prior to divestiture), where he was responsible for technical, network and customer service programs.

In 1998 Gottbreht assumed the role of vice president, information technologies for MediaOne. One of his most remarkable credits while at MediaOne was implementing a widespread Y2K See Y2K problem and Y2K compliant.
