We never believed that Jerry Rice Jerry Lee Rice (born October 13, 1962 in Crawford, Mississippi) is a former football wide receiver in the NFL. Rice is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in NFL history, consistently showing exceptional performance and strong work ethic on and off of the field.  would retire from his beloved occupation before snaring his 1,000th pass. After all, he had been a superstar for 21 of his 43 years, and there had never been a wide receiver over the age of 40!

Rice had just become the Denver Broncos fourth wide receiver. We didn't know how good or how bad he was going to be, but did know that you can't keep fighting age forever.
