(March 14, 2006) - Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship hosts the sixth installation of the Rice Business Plan Competition (RBPC RBPC Random Binary Phase Code ), one of the world's largest. The 2006 competition is one of the top entrepreneurial gatherings in Houston. RBPC recently announced the semi-finalists who will be competing for more than $260,000 in prizes.

Within the past six years, RBPC has become one of the largest university-based intercollegiate business plan competitions in the world in terms of prize money, number of contending teams, and participating judges.

Prizes valued at more than $260,000 will be given away, including:

--$100,000 equity investment provided by The GOOSE Society of Texas

--$20,000 cash prize for first place, $15,000 for second place, $7,500 for third place

 teams an excellent opportunity to network with more than 150 venture capital principals, early stage investors, successful entrepreneurs and senior business leaders, who also act as judges for RBPC. The judges are selected based on their expertise in investing, entrepreneurship, and their interest in supporting early stage entrepreneurs. The Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship is Rice University's flagship initiative devoted to the support of technology entrepreneurship. The Jesse H. Jones Graduate School
