*The EWC8370 takes the great features of HD-8370 and encorporates them into a safe, button operated electric machine.

*This machine is designed to quickly and easily insert the pages of your document onto a wire binding spine and then professionally close the binding element to create a high quality bound presentation or proposal.

*The EWC-8370 is designed for use with 3:1 pitch wire binding spines between 1/4" and 9/16" in diameter. Plus, it can bind documents as short as 5.5 inches and as long as 14 inches.

Strengths / Features:

*This machine is designed to automate the process of inserting and closing a book bound with twin loop wire. One of the most difficult parts of binding any document using double loop wire is trying to insert the pages of the book onto the spine and the trying to close the spine without having the pages fall off. The EWC8370 helps to make this process easier by allowing users to insert their pages and close their wires in one smooth motion.

*The EWC-8370 is an electric machine with moving parts. In order to provide safety to its operators, this machine requires two handed operation to activate the machine. There are two green buttons that must simultaneously be pressed in order to activate the inserting and closing process.

*This machine has a series of notches on the front of the machine that are designed to help you choose the correct size of spine for your document. It has notches corresponding to all of the different sizes of 3:1 pitch wire between 1/4" and 9/16". You simply take the pages of the book and choose the smallest sized notch that they will fit into. This makes selecting the right size of wire incredibly simple.

*The EWC-8370 is designed to be used as a standalone machine or can be mounted to the top of your Rhino Tuff OD or HD vertical binding punch (except for the HD7500). However, mounting this item to the top of your machine will require an optional mounting kit.

Weaknesses:

*Like the smaller Rhin-O-Tuff manual wire closer / inserter combination machines, the major drawback to this system is in the setup. In order to use this machine there are a number of settings that must be adjusted. You need to set the wire closer, the book stop, the closing bar and the wire rest. If any of these components is not set up properly the machine will not work. For a technically minded operator the EWC8370 isn''t going to be that hard to set up. However, for users that are constantly switching the diameter of wire that they are using or for inexperienced users this machine will be very difficult to operate.

*The EWC-8370 cannot be used to close documents that are larger than 9/16" in diameter and is not compatible with 2:1 pitch wire. A separate wire closing device will be required for closing 2:1 pitch wires. This is inconvenient for organizations that bind documents with both 3:1 and 2:1 pitch spines.

*The EWC-8370 is designed for use with a three to one pitch hole-pattern. However, in addition to the hole spacing you also need to make sure that the holes are the appropriate size, shape and distance from the edge of the paper. If you use round holes they should be 11/64" or larger and if you use square holes they should be 5/32" or larger. The Margin for round holes should be .168". For square holes it should be .179".

Recommendation:

*The EWC8370 is faster and more accurate than any of the manual wire closers and inserters that are available on the market.

*Using this machine it is possible to eliminate the tricky process of inserting the pages of your document onto your WireBind spines and then attempting to transfer them to a manual wire closer for finishing.

*However, this machine is somewhat difficult to set up and is not ideal for inexperienced users who are not mechanically inclined. In fact, this machine works best inside organizations that seldom need to change the size of documents that they bind.
