20 billion by the end of 2010 as unit prices drop.

The 20 million or so MMS users across Europe represent just 10% of SMS users. The poor uptake is due to high prices, a poor user interface for composing each MMS, unpredictable rendering (how the message will appear on the receiving phone), and frequent delivery failures.

MMS is gaining attraction as the penetration of phones with a built-in camera, colour screen, and media player rises fast. As result, it is believed that MMS usage will increase from 20% to 50% of mobile subscribers in the next five years.

On average, nine messages per month will be sent on average but MMS will still only account for less than 10% of total P2P messaging traffic by the end of 2010.
