The convention will serve as the culmination of the football season for more than 5,000 coaches. It will feature a three-day coaching clinic and several other functions, including the AFCA Awards Luncheon and the AFCA Coach of the Year Banquet A banquet is a large public meal or feast, complete with main courses and desserts. It usually serves a purpose, such as a charitable gathering, a ceremony, or a celebration. Sometimes a banquet consists of only desserts, but it is advisable to include main courses as well. . The first morning of the coaching clinic (Monday) will be devoted to presentations by high school and junior college coaches. The speaker schedule is still in the planning stages, but if past history is any indication, it will feature one of the year's most spectacular slate of clinicians and topics. The only requirement needed to attend the convention is AFCA membership. The membership fee for high school, junior college, college and professional coaches is $40. Unlike most clinics, there will be no convention registration fee. One of the changes in the schedule will be the switching of the nights for the Buzz Sessions and the AFCA Tailgate Party In North America, a tailgate party is a social event held on and around the open tailgate of a vehicle.
