Retired officials reemployed during Musharraf still working on senior positions.

ISLAMABAD, March 18, 2011 (Frontier Star): Despite Supreme Court orders over 10 officials who were reappointed on contractual basis after their retirement in Planning Commission of Pakistan (PCP) during Musharraf era are still working on senior positions. Six out of the total reemployed officers are working on senior positions of advisors and specialists. Three specialists who were adjusted were Shahnawaz Hussain employed as specialist PIA, Ali Arif Naqvi as educational planning specialist, and Dr. Asif Qayyum Qureshi as specialist on environmental economic and policy. Three of the retired officials were adjusted as advisors on contracts, their names are Dr. S.M. Younus Jaferi who is still working as advisor economic planning, Muhammad Asif Sheikh working as advisor dev. budget, Dr. Muhammad Jameel Khan as advisor agriculture planning. A senior official on condition of anonymity told that all the six persons had retired and were reappointed on contract basis on senior positions during former president Musharraf regime. There are other names but they are working on lower posts. The officials said that the appointment is not only illegal in view of the apex court decision but also damages purpose of merit. Another official who was not authorized to speak to media said that the reappointment has not only cause stoppage in periodic endorsement of several officials waiting for their promotion to the senior position but also discouraging young talent. It is pertinent to mention that recently Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered removal of numbers of senior officers including DG FIA who were reappointed after their superannuation.
