Retired officer reaps what he sews.


Having spent most of his life in the harsh world of law enforcement, J. D. Taylor, now 64, took a turn for the softer side and began quilting quilting, form of needlework, almost always created by women, most of them anonymous, in which two layers of fabric on either side of an interlining (batting) are sewn together, usually with a pattern of back or running (quilting) stitches that hold the layers  after retirement.

In 1994, Taylor decided he needed a hobby. While watching his younger sister quilt, he figured he could do the same. He taught himself to sew sew

Working out of his garage, I Taylor laughingly admits it takes quite a while to complete a quilt. A much slower way of life than his previous occupations offered, one quilt takes about a year to finish.
