(1) In addition, I contend that this includes taking simultaneous blood samples not just for insulin levels, but also for cortisol cortisol (kôr`tĭsôl') or hydrocortisone, steroid hormone that in humans is the major circulating hormone of the cortex, or outer layer, of the adrenal gland. levels, in light of the fact that spontaneous hypoglycemia may be a presenting feature of secondary hypoadrenalism.
