Resort Suites, Stonecreek lead Arizona Network; PAR Golf Systems launches newest tee time reservation hub; Grayhawk, Tonto Verde, Karsten Course also on line.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 24, 1995--PAR Golf Systems' newest tee time network has linked Arizona's leading golf package hotel.

Resort Suites of Scottsdale, and four of the region's top courses to give hotel guests and other golfers computerized access to instant tee time reservations, PAR President Grant Spaeth announced today.

Four distinctive Valley of the Sun courses -- Stonecreek: The Golf Club, the Karsten Course at Arizona State University, Grayhawk Golf Club and Tonto Verde Golf Club -- are the charter members of PAR's Arizona regional tee time network, known as PARNET.

The Hyatt Regency Scottsdale is scheduled to join the network in February, Spaeth added, and discussions are underway with a number of other prestigious resorts and courses.

"We're delighted and proud that our Arizona network has begun with such distinguished participants," said Spaeth. "The technology we've installed will enable them to provide superior customer service to golfers and to run their businesses more efficiently."

Resort Suites of Scottsdale, which schedules thousands of rounds for guests annually at area courses, now has computerized access to the tee sheets at all the courses on the network for the first time.

With a few simple keystrokes on the tee time terminal, the golf concierge at the resort can book starting times at Stonecreek, Karsten, Grayhawk or Tonto Verde immediately without making a phone call. Golfers who call the courses directly for a tee time will also benefit from the speed and efficiency of the electronic tee sheet.

"We think the system is terrific," said Henry DeLozier, president of Resort Management of America, operators of Stonecreek and Karsten. "We researched several reservation systems and we are sold on PARNET. We made the best choice."

Grayhawk, Scottsdale's foremost new course which opened last month, will be the site of the PGA World Championship of Golf this December.

"The response to PARNET from resort operators and golf professionals has been unbelievable," said Mike Loustalot, who is building and managing the Arizona network for PAR. "This service dramatically improves every aspect of the reservation process, for operators and golfers alike."

PAR has provided the technology for five other regional tee time networks, the largest of which links 55 golf courses and 20 hotels along the famed Grand Strand of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Other regional networks serve the world's most popular family theme park near Orlando, Fl., Ocean City, MD, Traverse City, MI and York County, PA. All told, the networks handle some eight million reservations per year.

In addition to tee time network software, PAR Golf Systems markets applications that link point-of-sale transactions, purchase orders and receiving, billing and other accouting functions within the pro shop. Among the dozens of courses currently using PAR's prop shop software are those at PGA West/LaQuinta in LaQuinta, Calif., the Silverado Country Club and Resort and the Chardonnay Club in Napa, Calif., Pumpkin Ridge near Porland, OR and the Kingsmill Resort at Williamsburg, VA.
