$1.1 million Brazilian reals (U.S.$910,000) each to produce, three
contest-winning feature film scripts. This funding will constitute the
largest grant earmarked for film production in Brazil's history.
The Rio Grande do Sul Cinema Hub was created recently by the government
of Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul state, with help from the private
sector and professionals in the audiovisual industry.
Another important development is the establishment of the Rio Grande do Sul Cinema Foundation, which will be responsible for setting up and regulating financial backing for Brazilian films.
