Resisting Rome.Regarding "Lost in Translation": I have come to the conclusion that it is time to stop wasting energy trying to convince Rome to live up to the spirit of Vatican II Noun 1. We need to find ways to celebrate the Christian liturgy Noun 1. Christian liturgy - the Christian worship services liturgy - a rite or body of rites prescribed for public worship doxology - a hymn or verse in Christian liturgy glorifying God faithfully in spite of Rome. A bishop's first responsibility is not to Rome, but to the people of his diocese. If he does not serve his people, they need to tell him that he is not being faithful to his mission. In the case of the liturgy, the only effective way to accomplish this is to refuse to accept the changes that Rome is trying to impose. Concretely, this means declining to parrot parrot, common name for members of the order Psittaciformes, comprising 315 species of colorful birds, pantropical in distribution, including the parakeet.
