Residents of north Eugene and Coburg have a chance to seek appointment to the Lane Transit District A transit district or transit authority is a special-purpose district organized as either a corporation chartered by statute, or a government agency, created for the purpose of providing public transportation within a specific region. Applicants have until November to apply for the seat; Senate confirmation hearings are slated for December and the governor hopes to make an appointment in January, LTD spokesman Andy Vobora said.

"I feel like we went through some challenging times, but it's been a very good experience," she said of her LTD board service. "I learned a lot about transit and have great admiration for transit."
