Research metalcasting facility now in operation at Clemson University as part of CETL.

A new research metalcasting facility built by Clemson Engineering Technologies Laboratory (CETL CETL Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (UK)
CETL Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (also seen as CETAL)
CETL Center for Effective Teaching and Learning
) staff and students is being used to support research projects, provide educational opportunities to engineering, science and architecture, arts and humanities students, and service the needs of CETL's commercial and government clients.

The metalcasting facility is a key component in the CETL's Rapid Component Fabrication fabrication (fab´rikā´shn),
n the construction or making of a restoration.

machining to allow quick and inexpensive production of experimental, but fully functional, components.

The CETL uses 3-D printed molds and patterns made on its rapid prototype printer for rapid casting of aluminum, brass, bronze and gray iron. Going from a 3-D model to a cast part in as little as two days is possible with this approach. Cast molds to be used for diecasting and permanent mold casting are under development.
