On 10 June, the U.S. Coast Guard's command center in Mobile, Ala., received a distress call reporting that a vessel seven miles southeast of Panama City Panama City, city (1990 pop. 34,378), seat of Bay co., NW Fla., on St. Andrews Bay; inc. 1909. A Gulf Coast resort with amusement parks and excellent fishing, it is also a port of entry.  Arlene. An HH-60 Jayhawk The HH-60 Jayhawk is a twin-engine medium-range search and rescue (SAR) helicopter, based on the airframe of the SH-60 Seahawk. Besides SAR, it is used for drug interdiction, cargo lift, and special operations.  helicopter rescue crew was dispatched from Coast Guard Aviation Training Center to rescue the five crew members aboard the vessel. The Coast Guard Cutter Seahawk, an 87-foot patrol boat from Carrabelle, Fla., was also dispatched to assist in the rescue. The five crew members were ordered to abandon ship, and with the assistance of the helicopter's deployed rescue swimmer ] produced by Tam Communications, working in association with the Discovery Channel. Along with covering the history and the demanding training rescue swimmers must complete, the specials also feature dramatic on-scene footage of several heroic rescues. , they were safely hoisted into the aircraft.
