Rescues.On 21 June, an MH-60 helicopter from HSC-28 Det 2 was directed by U.S. 5th Fleet to an Iranian fishing dhow dhow One- or two-masted Arab sailing vessel, usually with lateen rigging (slanting, triangular sails), common on the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. The helicopter crew found the dhow with nine people on deck, with the vessel taking on water. The mariners signaled to the helicopter crew that something was broken below deck. With the help of a Kearsarge (LHD LHD abbr. Latin Litterarum Humaniorum Doctor (Doctor of Humanities; Doctor of Humane Letters) 3) crewmember fluent in Farsi, the ship's crew was able to communicate that the dhow had a broken engine and had been afloat for several hours, and that the crew was very hungry. Kearsarge launched her RHIB RHIB Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (also see RIB) and provided the dhow's crew with food and gasoline. The crew requested no additional assistance.
