 Patuxent River The Patuxent River is a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay in the state of Maryland. There are three main river drainages for central Maryland: the Potomac River to the west passing through Washington D.C. , Md., search and rescue team retrieved a 71-year-old man stranded in a mud flat (see "People-Planes-Places," p. 38). This was the first rescue using the Tri-SAR harness, which has been fielded to select units throughout the Navy. The harness wraps around the rescuer's torso and under the legs and the hoist line connects near the waist, leaving the upper body free. The Tri-SAR's design allows the rescuer to direct-deploy to the scene of an incident and attend to the victim while staying connected to the hoist line.
