Rescheduled Jerusalem accounting conference opens in November.RESCHEDULED JERSUSALEM ACCOUNTING CONFERENCE OPENS IN NOVEMBER The 5th Jerusalem Conference on Accountancy, originally scheduled for November 1990, was postponed because of the Middle East hostilities. With peace restored to the region, the international accounting conference has been rescheduled for November 17-20, 1991. The agenda remains the same. The principal topics include harmonization and standard setting in the accounting world; harmonization of auditing standards and rules of professional conduct; and diversification, management and marketing in an accounting firm. When necessary, papers for the conference were updated to reflect changes in the past year. The sponsoring Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Israel has been able to retain an impressive lineup of speakers. It was responsible for developing the International Accounting Standards and promoting the use and application of these (IASC IASC International Accounting Standards Committee IASC Inter-Agency Standing Committee (United Nations) IASC International Arctic Science Committee IASC International Association for Statistical Computing ); David Tweedie, chairman of the United Kingdom accounting standards board The role of the Accounting Standards Board (ASB) is to issue accounting standards in the United Kingdom. It is recognised for that purpose under the Companies Act 1985. It took over the task of setting accounting standards from the Accounting Standards Committee (ASC) in 1990. ; and Justice Miriam Ben Porath, state comptroller of Israel. At least 400 international guests and 800 Israeli CPAS are expected to attend the conference. English will be the official language, with simultaneous translations in Spanish, French and Hebrew.
