ResCare-Managed Kentucky Facility Earns Three-Year Accreditation.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- ResCare, Inc. (NASDAQ: RSCR), the nation's leading provider of residential, training, education and support services for people with developmental and other disabilities, youth with special needs, and adults with barriers to employment, today announced that the Council on Quality and Leadership in Support for People with Disabilities (CQL) has awarded a three-year accreditation to Outwood. Outwood is a ResCare-managed, state-owned program in Dawson Springs, Kentucky, which serves 70 people. ResCare has managed Outwood for Kentucky since 1983.

To attain accreditation by CQL, Outwood underwent a rigorous review conducted by professionals who observed programs and services. Reviewers also interviewed people receiving services, their family members and Outwood staff.

CQL is a national quality enhancement organization representing national consumer and professional organizations and service providers dedicated to improving the quality of services to people with disabilities.

Specifically praising the measures Outwood has taken to ensure the people living there have opportunities outside the residential setting, the reviewers stated, "People are treated with respect. Staff listened and responded to personal considerations. Staff has become very proficient in interpreting people's desires, needs and wishes."

The report also recognized the efforts by staff members to encourage individuals to follow their dreams. In providing one example, the report stated, "One person was supported to show and market his art in a variety of galleries and art shows. This was bringing him new opportunities to travel and meet people."
