Republican official bows out of school assembly.

A group of Cal Young Middle School students were supposed to get a taste of political spin from both the right and the left, but instead they got no spin at all after a representative of the Republican Party backed out of an assembly at the last minute Thursday Thursday: see week. . The party pulled the plug on the appearance after learning that a newspaper reporter would be present, school officials said.

"It changed things a little bit from what we were expecting," Principal Sara Cramer said.
