Reprise Records to Release Joni Mitchell's Grammy-Winning CD BOTH SIDES NOW On DVD-Audio April 10th.

BURBANK, Calif., April 6 /PRNewswire/ --

BOTH SIDES NOW, Joni Mitchell's stunning album of standard love songs which took home two Grammys at the recent 2001 Awards show ("Best Traditional Pop Album" and "Best Arrangements") will be released on DVD-Audio April 10th by Reprise Records. Featuring her sultry, jazzy renditions of amorous tunes from the 1920's to the 1970's, BOTH SIDES NOW is a passionate song cycle about love in all of its manifestations and was recorded at Sir George Martin's studio in London, England, with the accompaniment of seventy members of the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Vince Mendoza.

DVD-Audio, featuring Advanced Resolution multi-channel audio playback, is the most significant new packaged music format since the introduction of the CD nearly 20 years ago. For those with a DVD-Audio player, the CD may be heard in Advanced Resolution surround sound (six channels) or stereo. The New format also features a Dolby digital mix playable on all DVD-Video players (Dolby Digital AC-3 surround mix). The release of BOTH SIDES NOW on DVD-Audio features this superior advanced resolution surround as well as stereo sound.

BOTH SIDES NOW was produced by Mitchell and Larry Klein, and includes guest performances by artists Herbie Hancock, Mark Isham and Wayne Shorter. Featuring a collection of pop/jazz standards by such notables as Billie Holliday, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, and Lena Horn, BOTH SIDES NOW showcases Joni like she has never been heard before, singing music that she loves to sing, including such great vocal tracks as "You're My Thrill," "Stormy Weather" and "At Last." Also included on the album are fully orchestrated versions of two classic Mitchell songs, "Both Sides Now" and "A Case Of You."

"Joni came up with the idea of having the record trace the arc of a modern romantic relationship," says co-producer Klein, "From initial flirtation through optimistic consummation, metamorphosing into disillusionment, ironic despair, and finally resolving in the philosophical overview of acceptance and the probability of the cycle repeating itself."

An innovator at the forefront of folk, jazz, pop, avant-garde and world music, nearly half of Mitchell's studio albums have been certified gold or platinum and she is the recipient of six Grammys. A complete track listing for BOTH SIDES NOW is as follows: "You're My Thrill," "At Last," "Comes Love," "You've Changed," "Answer Me, My Love," "A Case Of You," Don't Go To Strangers," "Sometimes I'm Happy," "Don't Worry 'Bout Me," "Stormy Weather," "I Wish I Were In Love Again" and "Both Sides Now."
