EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Second quarter contracts totaled 99, up from 46 in the first quarter of 2010 and up from 82 in Q2 2009. Total contacts include both new and extension contracts for the major wireless infrastructure OEMs. Major contracts with dollar values during the quarter include: Mobile Broadband Network Ltd. WCDA/HSPA $619 million to Nokia Siemens Networks Wireless infrastructure market activity in Q2 was dominated by India for both the 3G auctions and the subsequent Chinese OEM embargo that then expanded to encompass the entire telecom industry. All shipments into India in Q2 were essentially halted due to security concerns by the Indian military and government. Research

Methodology

We have gathered data through exhaustive checks of official press releases as well as third party news sources to compile a database for all wireless base station contracts within the quarter specified. In the situation where multiple technologies (2G and 3G) were awarded from a mobile operator (i.e. GSM/WCDMA or CDMA2000 1xRTT/EVDO) we have split this out as two separate contracts for the OEM. However, for the situation involving the combination of WCDMA/HSPA technologies, we have kept this as a single contract for the OEM.

We note that while some contracts are signed by the OEMs, they may not be permitted to publicly state who, what technology and how much these contracts are for. In such cases, we have not included these contracts into our analysis. But for specific OEMs, we have also included analysis of BTS contracts that were not publicly stated in order to provide additional insight into the volume of activity being generated during the quarter. We define wireless base station contracts as those relating to cellular/PCS technologies covering all air interface technologies, frequency bands, and technology generation. We are NOT including any analysis on WiMAX technologies in this report. This report does not cover contracts involving only core network equipment relating to the mobile network but does include contracts covering both the core plus radio access network (RAN) as well as HSPA upgrades.
