Reponse's the 1,000 French selection!
No foreign trainer has a better recent record in this country. Criquette sent just three horses to bat for her in Britain last year, and they all won.
One of them was Pas De Reponse, who went home with the Cheveley Park Stakes. At the time Criquette was already fancying her 1,000 Guineas chances and nothing has happened since to dent that confidence.
"I think she is as good as my other winners Ma Biche, Ravinella and Hatoof," declares the trainer. "She had nothing to beat in her comeback race, but it brought her on and she has worked really well since."
That's good enough for me, but no classic is easy and Henry Cecil for one is determined to keep the prize at home, with three Guineas contenders.
Sleepytime is the only one to have run this year, an odds- on loser at Newbury when she got stuck in a pocket. She has impressed at home since, but horses by her sire, Royal Academy, have a nasty habit of not doing as well as they can.
Once more Godolphin look the team to beat. They run two, Ocean Ridge, who has been a betting springer this week, and Moonlight Paradise, good enough to beat Dazzle over seven furlongs here last October.
Reunion and Rebecca Sharp both won nicely on this course two weeks ago, but only look lively outsiders and Pas De Reponse deserves the call.
