 MEMPHIS, Tenn., Dec. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Federal Express Corporation


(NYSE: FDX) announced the promotion of James A. McKinney to senior vice president Federal Express and president of FedEx Logistics Services, a division of Federal Express, effective immediately.
 McKinney began his career with Federal Express in 1984 as managing director, satellite systems. In 1986 he was named managing director, network operations/telecommunications; vice president, flight operations in 1989; and, in 1991, McKinney became vice president North America for Business Logistics Services. A native of Harrisburg, Penn., McKinney graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, served as a naval officer for ten years and was a program manager with General Dynamics before joining Federal Express.
 In his new position, McKinney will be responsible for all operations, systems, sales and marketing activities of the company's third-party global logistics unit. He will also be responsible for the activities of the company's Catalogue and Remail Services Division, a unit that was formed in 1992 to work exclusively with the catalog and direct mail industry.
 Along with the appointment of McKinney, Richard M. Metzler has been named vice president and general manager North America for FedEx Logistics Services. Metzler, most recently vice president of the Catalogue and Remail Services Division, joined Federal Express in 1978 as a sales representative. He has held numerous management positions in the company's marketing division, including managing director-U.S. marketing in 1986 and vice president marketing and communications for the United Kingdom and Continental Europe in 1991. Before joining Federal Express, Metzler held management and sales positions with Airborne Freight and was general operations manager for Schrieber Air Freight. He is a native of Pittsburgh.
 William J. Razzouk, executive vice president of worldwide customer operations, said, "We are very pleased with the appointments of Jim McKinney and Dick Metzler to these key leadership positions at Federal Express.
