Rents, vacancy rates up slightly on Long Island.

The average asking rent for industrial space in the region was $10.82 psf, compared with $10.46 in the first quarter and $10.93 a year earlier.

In the comparable year-ago quarter the average asking rent was $11.93. Nassau has approximately 49 millions s/f of industrial space.

In Suffolk Suffolk, county (1991 pop. 629,900), 1,466 sq mi (3,798 sq km), E England. The county seat is Ipswich. Suffolk is bordered on the N by the Ouse and Waveney rivers and on the S by the Stour River. , which has almost twice as much industrial space as Nassau, the vacancy rate rose to 6.5%, from 5.86% in the first quarter of 2006.

One year earlier, the rate vacancy in Suffolk was 5.62%.

Asking rents in the county rose to $9.92 psf from $9.66 three months earlier. A year ago, the average rent for industrial space was $10.17.

During the latest quarter, more than 650,000 s/f became available for lease or sale in Suffolk, while 187,000 s/f were removed from the market.
