Renex Corp. Completes Acquisition of Dialysis Services of Atlanta and Initiates Expansion of Acute Dialysis Segment.

CORAL GABLES, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--December 12, 1997--Renex Corp. (Nasdaq National Market:RENX) today announced that it has completed the acquisition of Dialysis Services of Atlanta, Inc. ("DSA"). The purchase price and actual terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Based in Atlanta, DSA provides approximately 2,500 in-hospital treatments per year to patients of local hospitals. Renex purchased certain of DSA's assets, including its name, which Renex will continue to use.

James P. Shea, President and Chief Executive Officer of Renex, stated "We are extremely pleased to announce our first acquisition following our initial public offering. DSA provides acute hemodialysis, therapeutic hemapheresis and intra-operative blood retrieval services to several hospitals in the Atlanta area under long-term contracts. DSA's former owners, Pamela Harmon and Donna Haase, formed DSA nearly ten years ago and built a strong and profitable service business through high quality care and the establishment of significant relationships with various hospitals. DSA has had consistently strong cash flow and operating margins and is expected to be accretive to Renex' earnings."

Mr. Shea continued, "Pamela Harmon will serve as Vice President and General Manager of DSA which she will operate as an acute care dialysis division of Renex. We believe Ms. Harmon has demonstrated a successful business strategy in Atlanta that can be implemented on a national level. Renex Corp. provides dialysis and ancillary services to approximately 850 patients suffering from chronic kidney failure, generally referred to as end stage renal disease. The Company provides dialysis services through 13 outpatient facilities and two staff assisted home dialysis programs. Additionally, the Company provides in-patient acute dialysis services at 12 hospitals.
