RENEWABLE ENERGY DEVELOPMENT Renewable energy development covers the advancement, capacity growth, and use of renewable energy sources. Modern interest in renewable energy development is linked to concerns about exhaustion of fossil fuels and environmental, social and political risks of extensive use of fossil . The Caribbean Community Secretariat wishes to contract a qualified national from among the independent member states of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM CARICOM: see Caribbean Community and Common Market. ) to serve as project associate within the Caribbean Renewable Energy Development Program (CREDP). The CREDP aims to remove barriers to renewable energy Renewable energy utilizes natural resources such as sunlight, wind, tides and geothermal heat, which are naturally replenished. Renewable energy technologies range from solar power, wind power, and hydroelectricity to biomass and biofuels for transportation.  use in the Caribbean. Through specific actions to overcome policy, finance, capacity and awareness barriers, it is estimated that the contribution of renewable energy sources to the region's energy balance will be significantly increased. The CREDP is funded by the Global Environmental Facility through the United Nations Development Program, with co-funding by the German Technical Assistance Agency. The deadline to apply is May 3.
