R2S Regulated Two Stage
15500SP, a multi-language decoder LSI for Near Instantaneous Companded Audio Multiplex (NICAM NICAM near-instantaneous companding system: a technique for coding audio signals into digital form ) used in European and Asian TV broadcasts such as PAL and SECAM (SEquential Couleur Avec Memoire, Sequential Color with Memory) A color TV standard from France that was officially introduced in 1967. Although development began in 1956, it took time to convert from the earlier French 819-line system. .

The R2S15500SP converts Sound Intermediate Frequency (SIF) into digital data processing demodulation. In addition, it embeds D/A converter for both digital and analogue.

Samples of the R2S15500SP will begin shipping in December. The sample price has been set at 900 yen.
