Renesas to Celebrate Construction of New Building at Vietnam Design Center.

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam & TOKYO -- Renesas Technology Corp. today announced that it has celebrated the start of its construction effort to build a new facility at the design subsidiary, Renesas Design Viet Nam Co., Ltd. (RVC) to expand the development and design capabilities. The participants of the event include local government officials and academic organizations such as the Ho Chi Minh City Office, the Ho Chi Minh City Export Processing Zone Authority, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, the University of Natural Sciences and more. The new building will be completed by July 2007 and will begin operations in September 2007.

RVC was created in October 2004, as one of Renesas' main design centers for developing sophisticated multi-function system-on-chip (SoC) devices. Renesas has decided to construct a new building to increase the capability of design and development, and to improve efficiency and its development environment. The new facility will consist of a four-story building with the total land area of 10,000 m2 and will be capable of accommodating approximately 500 engineers. It will be equipped with the latest development support environment including servers and EDA tools. The site can accommodate additional buildings for possible expansions in the future.

Renesas will continue to expand the system solutions business for mobile, automotive and PC/AV markets by strengthening its development and design capabilities for sophisticated multi-function SoCs.
