Renesas Technology Leads VoIP Semiconductor Market with Industry's First Nortel-Certified Reference Platform; The Market-Ready Platform Helps Save Time and Costs for Testing and Validating Consumer VoIP End-Point Devices.

, Calif. -- Renesas Technology Renesas Technology Corporation (ルネサス テクノロジ|  Corp. today announced that a turn-key voice-over-IP (VoIP) reference platform co-developed with Arcturus Networks Inc. was awarded a Certificate of Compatibility from Nortel.

This jointly developed solution is based on the Renesas SH7710 SuperH(R) series microprocessor with a middleware stack from Arcturus and is the first VoIP reference platform to be certified by Nortel. The SuperH VoIP reference platform was awarded this certificate after completing session initiation protocol (protocol) Session Initiation Protocol - (SIP) A very simple text-based application-layer control protocol. It creates, modifies, and terminates sessions with one or more participants. Such sessions include Internet telephony and multimedia conferences.

It is described in RFC 2543.
 (SIP) interoperability testing with Nortel's Multimedia Communication Server (MCS) 5200 (software release 3.0) and will now carry the Nortel Compatible Product designation.
