TOKYO -- Renesas Technology Renesas Technology Corporation (ルネサス テクノロジ|  Corp. today announced that the SH-Mobile G1, a dual-mode single-chip LSI developed and announced in July 2004 jointly with NTT DoCoMo, Inc., that supports both the W-CDMA See WCDMA.  (3G) and GSM/GPRS (2G) communication standards, has been selected for the new FOMA See i-Mode.  903i W-CDMA mobile phone handsets by NTT DoCoMo. FOMA 903i handsets incorporating the SH-Mobile G1 will be manufactured by Fujitsu Limited (the F903i) and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (the D903i).

Minoru Sakata, general manager of the platform development division, mobile phone business unit, Fujitsu, comments as follows: "The SH-Mobile G1 was adopted in the F882iES series handset first, which has been a popular model since it was introduced in September, because of the slim form factor and light weight enabled by the SH-Mobile chip. This time, the same chip is incorporated into the new F903i series, helping to provide improved handset functionality, while enabling lower power consumption and size advantages. We plan to release an expanded lineup of new handset products employing the SH-Mobile G1 in the future."

Koichi Sada, deputy general manager of the mobile terminal center of Mitsubishi Electric, said, "The SH-Mobile G1 used in the new D903i was a big help in making the handset even slimmer while providing substantially enhanced functionality. We plan to use the SH-Mobile G1 to strengthen more of our products in the future."

The SH-Mobile G1 aims to lower costs and accelerate the global adoption of W-CDMA mobile phone handsets such as FOMA mobile phones. It is a single-chip device combining a dual-band LSI with the SH-Mobile application processor from Renesas Technology. The SH-Mobile G1 fuses W-CDMA technology from NTT DoCoMo with sophisticated LSI production technology and multimedia application technology from Renesas Technology, while also delivering

high performance and low power consumption.

FOMA 903i series supports Napster[TM], "One-segment" digital terrestrial broadcasting, and Mega i-appli for enhanced entertainment functionality as well as lifestyle functions such as an enhanced version of Osaifu-Keitai with e-wallet functions and GPS capabilities.

The F903i from Fujitsu has a display with a swing function to facilitate easy startup and operation of a variety of functions, including camera and i-appli programs. It provides the ease of use of a portrait-orientation display in a widescreen landscape display. This allows users to enjoy a full browser window when surfing the Web and to experience movies in excellent picture quality.

The D903i from Mitsubishi Electric has a 2.8-inch widescreen LCD panel Also called a "projection panel," it is a data projector that accepts computer output and displays it on a see-through liquid crystal screen that is placed on top of an overhead projector. In addition, it incorporates sophisticated functions such as an FM radio and FM transmitter A device that adapts an MP3 player or other portable audio source to a car's audio system via the FM radio. It retransmits the analog output of the headset jack as one of several FM channels, which is picked up by the car's antenna. Also called an "FM modulator. .
