Remembering Stanley Levine.On March 6th, Stanley Levine, 85, died. Many long-time members remember running alongside Stanley as he ran the Boston Marathon wearing the AMAA AMAA Agricultural Marketing Agreement Act of 1937 AMAA American Medical Athletic Association AMAA American Maine-Anjou Association AMAA Afghan Medical Association of America AMAA Armenian Missionary Association of America, Inc. jersey from 1976 to 1990. An avid long-distance runner, Stanley completed 49 marathons, including the Boston and New York New York, state, United States New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of races. He established a local chapter of the Achilles Running club. In September 1990, Stanley suffered a stroke, which ended his running life. Relegated to semi-invalid status, his enthusiasm for fitness still burned bright. He was a regular exerciser at a local YMCA YMCA in full Young Men's Christian Association Nonsectarian, nonpolitical Christian lay movement that aims to develop high standards of Christian character among its members. where he used the stationary bike and the pool; his grit and determination were an inspiration to many. Friends remember Stanley saying that when he died he wanted his epitaph epitaph, strictly, an inscription on a tomb; by extension, a statement, usually in verse, commemorating the dead. The earliest such inscriptions are those found on Egyptian sarcophagi. to read: "He was a runner." |
