Remedy Adds IBM DB2 Universal Database Support for New Generation of Adaptable Enterprise Applications.
The Action Request System (AR System(TM)) is an enterprise application environment used by more than 6,800 organizations in 70 plus countries to rapidly create and deploy business automation solutions. Noted for its scalability and extreme adaptability, the AR System tracks, controls and automates a diverse range of business tasks, such as help desk requests, systems management, customer call resolution, and purchase requisitions.
Native DB2 support opens up new possibilities for hundreds of existing Remedy Powered(TM) applications. Previously, DB2 users who wanted to implement Remedy solutions had to purchase and link to another database. Running Remedy on a single DB2 database offers customers enhanced systems management, availability improvements and better integration with other applications. In addition, customers will have real-time access to DB2-housed information.
"Automatically tracking and assembling information to take the right action at the right time is an increasingly important issue for companies today," said Jim Kelly, vice president, Data Management Marketing, IBM Software Solutions. "The quality, strength and robust function of IBM's award- winning DB2 Universal Database combined with Remedy's integrated family of adaptable enterprise applications will provide tremendous value to our mutual customers."
"Extending platforms and delivering additional packaged applications is part of Remedy's ongoing initiative to deliver the benefits of the AR System throughout the enterprise, something our users have requested," said Matt Miller, General Manager, Core Products Unit at Remedy. "Now the AR System will be accessible to a significantly larger portion of the market for call tracking, workflow, and business automation applications."
As with earlier versions of the Action Request System, customers can leverage IBM Global Services to design, build and implement best practices solutions around Remedy. IBM Global Services is the largest IT services provider in the world and a certified Remedy enterprise systems integrator. "The release of native DB2 Universal Database support allows us to use IBM's proven expertise, methodologies and tools to help customers create and deploy Remedy solutions using DB2 even faster," said Robert Hinckley, vice president, Systems Management and Networking Services, IBM Global Services.
