Rek Bitola to satisfy the strict EU ecological standards.
The reconstruction and modernization of the three blocks of its coal-fired power plant REK Bitola will finish by the end of October or the start of November 2012. This was announced by Georg Gasteiger, Chairman of Babcock Borsig. The German company signed an agreement with ELEM in the beginning of 2012 for modernization of the plants of REK Bitola.
"The project is being realized on time and at the moment we are preparing the necessary material for start of the reconstruction. In august, the third bloc is to get shut off from the system in order for us to launch the reconstruction that should finish by the end of October or start of November 2012. Afterwards, the bloc can be put into use and we are left with few things by the year-end when we are to start with the reconstruction of the second bloc," said Gasteiger.
He stressed that each year successively the boiler system in one of the three blocks of REK Bitola will be reconstructed.
"The project is worth around 90 million euro, namely 30 million euro for each of the three blocks. After the completion of the reconstruction, you will have a thermal power plant in Macedonia that is to satisfy the EU standards for pollution and emission of nitrous oxides," Gasteiger underlined.
In parallel with the start of the reconstruction of the boiler plants in thermal power plant Bitola 3, the capital project for modernization and automatization of the aggregates will be held which will modernize this bloc completely. For this purpose, an amount of 22 million euro will be invested.
